Percy Jackson and the Olympians #3-5 by Rick Riordan, 1054 pages

My oldest daughter and I have been competing for these books ever since I got them for Christmas. We've had an agreement that she gets to read them when she's home and I can read them when she's at school and/or asleep. The other day, however, she hid The Last Olympian.

I almost drove to the school to question her about its whereabouts until I found it underneath her pillow.
(She claims she always keeps it underneath her pillow.)

Needless to say, these books are great fun. I'm kind of sad it's over. Jenna and I both agree that we might like them better than Harry Potter. At times I felt like the author was trying to cram as much Greek mythology as he possibly could into each book and sometimes it felt like too much. It did make me want to learn more, however.

The chapter titles and one-liners were my favorite and had me laughing out loud. The ending was what I hoped it would be. The characters were completely endearing.

I can't wait to go on a mother/daughter date to see the movie.
