I stumbled across this book at Target and was hooked by the back cover. "Emily agreed to wed Philip, the Viscount Ashton, primarily to escape her overbearing mother. Philip's death while on safari soon after their wedding left Emily feeling little grief, for she barely knew the dashing stranger. But her discovery of his journals nearly two years later reveals a far different man than she imagined - a gentleman scholar and antiquities collector who apparently loved his new wife deeply. Emily's desire to learn more of her late husband leads her through the quiet corners of the British Museum and into a dangerous mystery involving rare stolen artifacts. To complicate matters, she's juggling two very prominent and wealthy suitors, one of whose intentions may go beyond matrimony into darker realms..."This book was delightful! It was reminiscent of The Scarlet Pimpernel (one of my all-time favorites) with its romance, intrigue and suspense. It takes place in the late 1800's in London and Paris mostly. Emily is a wonderful character, full of spunk and independence. There's nothing objectionable in this book. It's just good clean fun. I couldn't put it down and read it in a day - and I'll probably read it again while I wait for my next book to come in the mail so I can absorb all the details. The best part is that when I looked it up on Amazon I found that there are two sequels! Can't wait to get my hands on them. LOVED it!!
(More like 4 1/2 stars!)

I got my copy from the library and so I am going to read it after I finish "The Secret Life of Bees". I thought that this sounded good too.
I didn't know there were 3 in the series. I guess I better get reading.
O.K. I finished the book--just in time. It is due tomorrow and I can't renew because someone else wants it. LOVED it!! Now I'm moving on to book #2--can't wait. I am on a waiting list for #3. I am hoping it won't be too long to get to me when I finish #2.
