"At the end of the school year, Kendra and her brother, Seth, find themselves racing back to Fablehaven, a refuge for mythical and magical creatures. Grandpa Sorenson, the caretaker, invites three specialists - a potion master, a magical relics collector, and a mystical creature trapper - to help protect the property from the Society of the Evening Star, an ancient organization determined to infiltrate the preserve and steal a hidden artifact of great power. Time is running out. The Evening Star is storming the gates. If the artifact falls into the wrong hands, it could mean the downfall of other preserves and possibly the world. Will Kendra learn to use her fairy gifts in time? Will Seth stay out of trouble? Can they overcome paralyzing fear?" -Jacket
I was told that each book in this series gets better than the one before and so far I'd have to agree. I enjoyed the first book, but this book was definitely better. (I neglected a few loads of laundry to read today.) I like the discovery process that occurs with Kendra as a result of her encounter with the fairies in the last book. It will be interesting to see how her powers develop over the course of the series. I enjoyed spending the majority of the book trying to figure who the traitor is. There are twists and turns throughout and the ending was fantastic. I love what Seth does in this book. He seems to have grown up some, while still maintaining the sometimes reckless bravery that makes him so lovable.
