Jon Krakauer is a journalist who was climbing Mt. Everest during a year where a sudden storm took the lives of several climbers. Since reading this I have seen many of those climbers interviewed on the Discovery Channel. Climbers who attempt to climb Everest are a breed of their own and this book was a good analysis of what motivates some people to try. There is a lot of language in this book - climber's language I guess.
