The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

This book was heavy in some places as it is a story about Afghanistan and war. There are some scenes in this book that are heartbreaking and dark. But, it is also a book about guilt and redemption and doing the right thing. There are characters that you will root for and characters that you will despise.
